Imagem Principal

The Scala Institute is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 by Harvard Medical School professors to promote discussions of novel ideas in medicine and public health in Brazil. The organization aims to develop and promote new alternative methods of health care delivery particularly in areas that lack necessary resources.

Why Brazil?
Brazil is the sixth largest country by area and has the largest population in Latin America. Although Brazil has the eighth largest global economy, it has one of the highest levels of income inequality, which has a significant impact on public health.

What do we expect to achieve?
We expect to inform, exchange and promote the debate of new ideas that might improve health care access in Brazil. One of the goals is to discuss alternative successful models adopted in other countries, for instance:

How can you contribute?
You can contribute in many different ways. We would like to invite anyone interested in alternative solutions and volunteering to improve global health care. Participation in our symposiums and contributing new ideas is encouraged. Ultimately, it is hoped that future groups will explore these solutions.
